Otago Daily Times: Turning cherry orchard electric pays off

Mike and Rebecca Casey, alongside their business partners, transformed Forest Lodge Orchard into an almost all-electric operation, leading to substantial cost savings and reduced carbon emissions. They replaced traditional diesel technology with electric alternatives, including a solar and battery system and electric frost-fighting fans. The payback period for the investment has reduced significantly due to rising diesel prices and selling cherries at a premium under their brand NZ Zero.
